A judge in the state of Virginia has ruled that while the police can force you to unlock your cellphone using your fingerprint, they cannot make you open it with your passcode. Passcodes are considered protected by the Fifth Amendment since being forced to open your phone using your passcode to access possible evidence is considered to be a form of self-incrimination.
