In yet another fantastic marketing coop, LifeLock on Tuesday, 10/30/07 announced an agreement with the Air Force Sergeants Association. The plan will offer LifeLock identity theft protection service to members of AFSA as optional feature of their membership.
Though tagged as “Air Force Sergeants Association” the group includes many enlisted personnel and their families, approximately 130,000 in all.
For military personnel, who are often deployed on short notice, and for long periods of time, the benefit to having Lifelock install and maintain a Fraud Alert is a great idea.
For LifeLock, this is a marketing home run. To associate the LifeLock brand, even indirectly, with the US Air Force will undoubtedly add credibility. We can almost hear the new radio spots from Rush Limbaugh and Paul Harvey. The addition of some percentage of the 130K AFSA member base, even at a discount, should boost the bottom line.
We congratulate Todd Davis and LifeLock, and we hope AFSA members will take advantage of this new benefit.
This may seem a bitter pill to swallow for competitors like Debix and LoudSiren. However, in the long term, this should boost the credibility of the industry and further emphasize the importance of identity theft protection.
Look for a detailed posting on the LifeLock Review page very soon.
