Google Chairman Eric Schmidt recently stated that Google has its security locked so tightly that even the National Security Agency can’t touch them. In fact, Schmidt told those who attended a conference about surveillance that the situation with Edward Snowden prompted Google to secure their servers and services. So this leaves consumers at a choice: either have your information be accessible by the NSA or be trapped within the safe yet confining Google.
While Google claims to be secure and a great place to store sensitive data, that doesn’t mean that will be its policy forever. Later on it could be in Google’s best interest to work alongside the NSA, so keeping your info on Google might be overall fruitless. At this point, it is important for consumers to err on the side of caution no matter whether they choose Google or not.
