For the fourth year in a row, Splash Data has corralled and identified the most popular passwords for the year. Splash Data also compiled more than 3.3 million leaked passwords from users in North America and Western Europe. So what were 2014’s most popular passwords? The same as 2013. With some the same as 2012.
It may sound like a joke right now, but the top two most used ergo most hackable passwords were “123456†and, of course, “password.†As we as a society become more and more dependent on online accounts, this is unacceptable. Too many people are essentially volunteering their private information by not making a unique password.
