Last week, the United States’ second largest healthcare provider, Anthem, announced that hackers had obtained the personal information of over 80 million past and current customers and employees. Much of the information includes addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, and email addresses. So what’s the fallout?
First, Anthem believes that they information was taken because they didn’t encrypt that information like they do for their medical info. A spokesperson also suspect that Chinese hackers were involved due to their interest in attacking healthcare companies in the past.
