Using smartly crafted messages and techniques, company employees are being bombarded with ransomware. Employees, due to their human nature, are the weakest links in a company’s online and data security, so many of these intrusions are successful. Ransomware can cause severe damage in the form of data theft of files, CAD files, and financial information. So what can be done to increase your company’s defenses?
First thing, educate all your employees about ransomware. Give them identifiers of social engineering attempts and how to recognize phishing emails. Tell them never to open attachments in unrecognized emails and never click on pop-up ads. There is more to do, but most of the security battle is won if human error is removed.
