Sony’s data breach last year was one of the more public and destructive cyberattacks in recent memory. Several films/products were compromised along with the reputations of some of the biggest players in Hollywood. However, unlike most cyberattacks, this one didn’t have the hackers really profit from stolen accounts or identities; this attack was purely to hurt Sony.
Sadly, it is easier to do these broader attacks since the purpose is for the damage to be noticed rather than sneaking in. With that said, you can limit employee access and put certain limits on IT staff to prevent wide-scale destruction in case any disgruntled worker sets off to hurt your company.
