Last week Kmart sent out an announcement stating that there had been a breach in their store payment data system that been infected with malware that compromised several credit and debit card numbers that had been used at Kmart locations. Fortunately, as of this writing, none of the numbers grabbed by hackers have been reported but at the same time Kmart has not yet released the number of credit and debit cards that were compromised in the breach.
This comes off a recent trend of other retails that also had their payment systems compromised. If you had shopped at a Kmart any time between early September and October 9th, check your credit card account thoroughly and report any unauthorized purchases. Read more about the breach here.
